I never had any idea there was such a banked track...this is right near the start/finish line

My view from high up.  When I told a friend I was going, he said...don't sit low...sit high.  If you're down low, the noise is incredible, and they're traveling so fast you'll never know who just whizzed by.  He was right!

Yep, this is blue collar country!

Trevor Bayne won the race in 2011...I was on the bus headed for parking and the 5 hour 20mph trip from Daytona back to Orlando.  Talk about traffic!!!!

Cruise Throwback

The low in Albuquerque today...about 15 degrees.   Makes one want to throwback to the Caribbean.

How about a cruise!   Key West!   Dinnertime!   Panama Canal!

OK...the old reliable...Puerto Vallarta!

Benny Aragon

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Benny Aragon...a political operative in these parts for many years.

When I first started covering politics, Benny was a player at the state legislature.  He rose through the ranks, partially because he could count votes - on the floor - and in his home precinct.

We worked together at the state fair - where he once operated a food concession.  Benny also pointed proudly to the fact that he was one of those state lawmakers who voted to establish Villa Hispana at the state fair.  It was a turning point for that institution.

Here's a picture of Benny taken a few years back during a political meeting in Albuquerque. Obviously, he was doing what he loved.
